I'm plotting against you. I'm a writer. It's what I do. Stolen from Cafepress.com
No good deed goes unpunished.
The easy way is always mined.
What doesn't kill you, usually hurts like hell!
The best man for the job, is a Cylon.
And our credo, "Sic gorgiamus allos subjectatos nunc"..." We gladly feast on those who would subdue us". Not just pretty words.
You call me a Sith Lord, I say you have a bad lisp.
A long time ago I had a great waking dream. I was floating in space, the stars were shining steadily, it was so real. After a time, I began to examine the dream. I saw the stars, but I didn't see a faceplate. Then it dawned on me. Aaargh, my scurvy crew had spaced me out of an airlock!
Along the lines of a personal myth; Do you ever wonder if you are the product of a military experiment?

My formal education has been limited to a year of college and a certificate from
a trade school. I have investigated an eclectic array of knowledge. Computers and
the Internet have been both a distraction and a teacher.
I have struggled nearly all my life with hidden disabilities. I have suffered from
sleep apnea from at least age seven (I am thin). In my early twenties, I began to
experience the onset of Narcolepsy (but I don't have the usual genetic markers).
Neither of these conditions would be diagnosed and treated until I was in my
forties. Even with treatment, my most productive hours of the day are consumed
making a living. Sometimes, after a day of work, I could no longer understand the
arguments that I had written only a few weeks before. Instead of "Ground Hog
Day", "Flowers for Algernon" keeps repeating.
Everyone suggests that I should go back to school. School certification is just a
passport to working for somebody. It does not mean your ideas will be welcomed
with open arms by the scientific community. New Ideas will always struggle for
survival in the pool of peer review. In some fields, the pool is getting shallower
because the bottom of the pool is filled with denial (Dark Matter). Persistence,
objectivity, and creativity in the face of failure are more important than possessing
a degree.
I wouldn't mind taking courses to fill in the gaps in my education that nearly all
self-educated (autodidacts), have. I grant that many of the talented and degreed
have more knowledge than I do. (Degrees do not automatically confer talent.) But
I still can have the better questions.
In some ways I feel like a scout who explores beyond the pale, beyond the
boundaries imposed by group think and academic politeness. The well educated
can understand what I bring back, but how come they couldn't find it first? Has
the fevered demands to appear busy, busy, busy drowned out the voices of your
Muses. A subtle idea is only visible to the calm well disciplined mind. A mind that
lets the ideas float and tug their consciousness to the bright place.
